Drive-thru rapid testing site for coronavirus opens today on Georgia Tech campus

CVS Health has opened a rapid testing site for coronavirus (COVID-19) in a parking deck on the Georgia Tech campus. At full capacity, the site will be able to conduct up to 1,000 tests per day. The tests are free.

Testing will take place in the parking deck, located at 352 Peachtree Place, and accommodate multiple lanes of cars at one time. Health care providers, including nurse practitioners and physician assistants from CVS MinuteClinic will be onsite to oversee testing. The process will take approximately 30 minutes from specimen collection to delivery of results, and patients will need to pre-register in advance for a same-day appointment online at

Testing hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Rapid COVID-19 testing will be available to eligible individuals who meet criteria established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in addition to state residency and age guidelines.

When patients arrive at the test site, they are required stay in their vehicle. Team members on site will check their registration and direct them through the testing process.

  1. It is now 1:02 AM 4/7/20. I just spent 30 minutes trying to book a “same day” appointment at the GA Tech Covid19 drive thru test centers. I began the registration / appointment-making process at 12:27. After four attempts at selecting an appointment time & place on the CVS site I gave up. I just finished filling out CVS’s own feedback survey of their Minute Clinic online appointment registration process. It was at first seemingly simple. I was offered options of several appointment time slots. I select one. Entered personal data on the questionnaire form. Then was informed that time slot was no longer available. But instead of being offered a site & time that was still open, I had to start from the beginning filling out the CVS form & fields with the exact same personal information (contact & health history questions) that I had just completed. So, I filled in the fields again only to be informed that the new appointment time & new place that I had been offered & selected was no longer available. And, most frustratingly, the CDS website again required me to start from the beginning filling in all of the information I had just entered twice previously, instead of just offering a site & time slot that was still open.
