The Atlanta Police Department has arrested 11 suspects in a series of mailbox break-ins recently plaguing the Old Fourth Ward.
The suspects: Jeffery Ward, 27; Rodericus Seay, 22; Antwan Manuel, 28; Darius Snow, 28; Quan Kimbrough, 34; Decquist Dubois 36; Timothy Diggs, 22; Steven Osby, 24; Michael Williams, 36; Deangelos Robertson, 36; and Deshon Snulligan, age unknown.
All 11 have been charged with theft by taking, criminal damage to property, loitering or prowling, obstruction of officers, burglary, and distribution of drug related objects.
On Dec. 5, APD officers were working a special surveillance detail after reports of mailbox break-ins when two suspects were observed canvassing Gilbert Trail. While one operated as a lookout, the second suspect began prying open mailboxes. Officers were able to apprehend both suspects while in possession of stolen mail items without incident.
Further investigation revealed that the pair were only two in a crew of individuals responsible for the thefts. After receiving additional information provided by the suspects officers learned that there was a stash of stolen mail being held in a nearby hotel. Search warrants were secured for the property and nine other suspects were located in addition to numerous stolen mail items such as bank statements, credit card deliveries, and documents containing personal information. These items were turned into the Atlanta Police Property Control Unit as evidence.
