Elton John fans can test new audio tech device PEEX at Atlanta concerts

Fans of Elton John will be able to hear the “Rocket Man” in a whole new way when his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour stops at State Farm Arena this weekend, Nov. 1-2.

John has partnered with audio tech startup company PEEX to offer concertgoers an innovative way to amplify and mix his songs in realtime. Created four years ago, PEEX made its debut on John’s farewell tour.

How does it work: You start by reserving a special wearable device with headphones online, then you download the PEEX app to your phone. Once you arrive at State Farm Arena, representatives will show you how to use the device and app. Once the concert starts, you’ll be able to control volume or mix the music directly on your phone. Want to bring John’s vocals to the front or isolate his piano?  Then just slide your finger on the mixing board.

PEEX executive David Johnson said because the Atlanta shows will celebrate two million people having seen Elton John live on his farewell tour, PEEX will be available for free, but must be reserved in advance at rent.peex.live.

“Elton is passionate about giving fans the best show and sound experience, so PEEX was a natural match,” Johnson said, noting that the musician had partnered with the company when it was still in development phase two years ago. “Fans who have tried PEEX on the tour absolutely love being able to personalize the show. We’ve received incredible feedback. You have to experience it to understand how transformative it is.”

Johnson said working with Elton John is just the starting point for PEEX and expects to announce partnerships with new artists and venues in the coming months.
