News Briefs: Deadly e-scooter accident; BeltLine hotel; Music Midtown tickets on sale

The Atlanta Police Department is investigating the city’s first deadly electric scooter accident, according to a report from the AJC. A man riding a Lime dockless e-scooter was struck and killed by an SUV as he was leaving the West Lake MARTA station early Friday morning. The driver of the SUV said she tried to avoid hitting the man, but was unable to do so in time. The Atlanta City Council has approved regulations for the e-scooters, which have proliferated across the city, and collecting injury data related to the use of dockless scooters from hospitals, urgent care facilities and other healthcare institutions on a quarterly basis.

 Curbed Atlanta reports that Portman Holdings has filed plans with the city for a seven-story, 200-room hotel on the Atlanta BeltLine’s Eastside Trail in the Old Fourth Ward. The wedge-shaped property at the corner of Irwin Street and Auburn Avenue and is adjacent to Studioplex.
