News Briefs: City Council meeting; APD Chief joins association; rent report

Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields has been elected to represent the Eastern Region on the board of directors for the Major Cities Chiefs Association, an influential professional organization of police executives representing the largest cities in the United States and Canada. The Major Cities Chiefs Association provides a forum for urban police, sheriffs and other law enforcement chief executives to discuss common problems, to share information and problem-solving strategies.

Online apartment finder Zumper has released a report that indicates Atlanta is the 19th most expensive rental market in the country. The price of one bedroom units in the city remains flat at $1,480, while two bedroom units grew 2.2 percent to $1,840. Read more about the report at this link.
