Summer Flicks: Local film festivals offer movies for the entire family

Black Panther will screen at Nestflix at The Wren’s Nest and at The Fox.

If you’re looking to catch a movie this summer, but none of the new releases look good, local film festivals are rolling out classics and family favorites in July and August. Here’s a roundup:

Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival at The Fox
The annual festival returns with hit films and classics being shown on the giant Fox movie screen. Films include: 50th anniversary screening of “Night of the Living Dead” (July 27), Saturday Morning Cartoons (July 28), “Iron Man” (July 28), 50th anniversary screening of “Funny Girl” (Aug. 2), “Trolls” (Aug. 11), the sing-a-long version of “Grease” (Aug. 23) to mark its 40th anniversary, and a sing-a-long version of “Moana” (Aug. 25) and “Black Panther” (Aug. 25). Tickets are $10 per person, except for the sing-a-long events, which are $15 in advance or $20 the day of the show. For times and details, visit foxtheatre.org.

Nestflix
The Wren’s Nest, 1050 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. in West End, is hosting a series of free movie screenings this summer including “Hidden Figures” (June 30), “Coco” (July 28), “Black Panther” (Aug. 25) and “Boo! A Madea Halloween” (Sept. 29). Gates open at 7 p.m. and films begin at dusk. Picnics are encouraged. Information: wrensnest.org.

Grease will screen at The Fox and Movies on the Town this summer.

Atlantic Station
The annual Movies in Central Park continues with “Happy Feet” (June 28), “I Am Legend” (July 5); “Hancock” (July 12) and “Up” on July 19. The movies, which are free and open to the public, begin at dusk. Blankets and lawn chairs are welcome, and to-go orders are available from eateries at Atlantic Station. Movies on the Town
Head up to Town Brookhaven, 4330 Peachtree Road, for this festival, which will screen “Clueless” (June 28), “Back to the Future” (July 12), “Grease” (July 19) and “Coco” (July 26). Films begin at dusk and are free to attend. Information: facebook.com/townbrookhaven.
