As of 5 p.m. on Tuesday, more than 170,000 Georgia Power customers in Fulton and DeKalb counties were still in the dark after Tropical Storm Irma. Georgia Power is working to bring the lights back on, but it may take days in some areas to restore power. You can see the outage map at this link.
Schools will once again be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 13, including Atlanta Public Schools (APS), City Schools of Decatur, Fulton County Schools and DeKalb County Schools. APS said in a Facebook posting late Tuesday afternoon that 28 schools in the district were still without power, and there were also concerns about road closures due.
MARTA, which made the unprecedented move of shutting down the entire system on Monday, resumed bus and rail service on Tuesday afternoon. Check with itsmarta.com to see the full schedule, since bus routes are being affected by road closures.
