On Thursday, Nov. 12, Georgians will show their support for the work and worth of nonprofits during the fourth annual Georgia Gives Day. From midnight to midnight, donors statewide are encouraged to visit GAgivesday.org and give to their favorites of more than 2,000 participating nonprofits. Causes include social and cultural care like education, animal homelessness, the environment, youth development, healthcare and more.
“Each year, Georgia Gives Day highlights the important work of local nonprofits in sustaining and building our communities while also helping Georgians discover and connect with organizations that share their passions,” said Karen Beavor, president and CEO of the Georgia Center for Nonprofits, which hosts the annual event.
Since 2012, Georgia Gives Day has garnered nearly 41,000 donations and raised more than $5.2 million. Last year alone, the event raised almost $2.3 million, and according to a survey, 9 percent of donors made their first ever donation to a nonprofit and 15 percent gave to a new nonprofit.
