News Briefs: Streetcar resumes; HERO accident; DeKalb water

Atlanta Streetcar service resumed this morning at 8:15 a.m. after being suspended all weekend for repair of the power delivery system. Repairs were made to overhead power lines at Edgewood Avenue SE and Jackson Street NE; Auburn Avenue NE and Peachtree Street NW.

A Highway Emergency Response Operator (HERO) was badly injured after being hit by a car while working early Saturday morning, according to CBS46. Moses King was blocking off two lanes of traffic on the Downtown Connector near 17th Street around 1:40 a.m.when a vehicle plowed into him. He’s in critical condition at Grady Hospital. The vehicle was being driven Lindsay Clark, 25, who was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence, reckless driving and serious injury by a vehicle.

The DeKalb County Commission will receive a briefing on Tuesday, Aug. 4, about a July 23 water main break that disrupted water service for the entire county. According to Decaturish, commissioners will hear an “Emergency Response Report” about the incident. The commission meeting starts at 9 a.m. and will be held at Maloof Auditorium located at 1300 Commerce Drive in Decatur. All meetings are open to the public.
