News Briefs: Jeni’s closed again; Perimeter delays; student housing

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is closed again in the wake of another listeria discovery, according to a report from Atlanta Business Chronicle. The Columbus, Ohio-based ice cream maker said Friday that bacteria was discovered in its production facility this week. Stores in Decatur, Krog Street Market and Westside Provisions are closed again less than a month after reopening from a previous listeria scare.

A 144-unit mixed-used development featuring student housing and retail has broken ground across from the Sweet Auburn Curb Market in Downtown. 200 Edgewood is being developed by Sanctuary Residential and will also face the Atlanta Streetcar line, according to Curbed Atlanta.

Expect a weekend of delays if you plan to use the I-285 Perimeter. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is encouraging motorists to avoid the Perimeter this weekend (June 12-14) because of ongoing projects that will mean lane closures. Much of the work will be happening in the Spaghetti Junction area, but there are also projects happening at Chamblee Tucker Road-East Ponce, Northlake Parkway, Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to South Atlanta Road and Camp Creek Parkway.
