News Briefs: Body identified; Amazon service; Decatur schools

A body found near Grant Park has been identified as Rachel Batelaan, 25, according to a report form the AJC. The body was discovered at about 5 p.m. Tuesday outside a home on the 300 block of Dalton Street.  Neither cause nor manner of death had been determined.

Amazon.com has expanded its Prime Now to Atlanta as of today, according to Atlanta Business Chronicle. The service offers Amazon’s Prime members one-hour delivery on tens of thousands of daily essentials through a mobile app. Prime members who download the Prime Now app, available on iOS and Android devices, will be notified when the service is available in their area. In Atlanta, Prime Now is available from 8 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. Two-hour delivery is free and one-hour delivery is available for $7.99.

City Schools of Decatur is in the process of terminating a contract for a $12 million expansion and renovation of the Decatur High School, according to a report from Decaturish. CSD awarded the contract in July of last year, which includes $950,000 in construction management fees. “The bottom line is we have limited funds and we couldn’t reach an agreement on the price,” Superintendent Phyllis Edwards said at the April 1 meeting. “It wasn’t fitting into our price.”
