Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton County Schools, Decatur Schools and DeKalb County Schools decided before dawn that it would be business as usual today, despite the mix of wintry weather happening in the metro. The northside got more white stuff than Intown, with many school systems outside the city deciding to close after snow and ice began accumulating on the roads. The morning commute was noticeably lighter this morning and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport was reporting departure delays.

Students were clearly expecting to sleep in this morning and took to Twitter to vent their frustration. Atlanta Public Schools (@apsupdate) and Fulton County (@FultonCoSchools) got an earful from students ranging from “y’all trying to kill us before our time???!!!” to photos of snow covering their yards and cars and a GIF of Kim Kardashian describing Fulton’s decision as “tragic.”

Parents left more than 100  messages on the Fulton County Schools Facebook page expressing concern about older students driving to class. One mother said “our family will be on a 2-hour delay” even if the school system was opening on time

Another round of winter weather has been predicted for tomorrow, so stay tuned.
