Heavy rain swept the metro this morning causing localized flooding and bringing down trees in some neighborhoods. Georgia Power reported at 9 a.m. that more than 19,000 were without power, mostly in metro Atlanta. A tornado watch for the area has been cancelled, although more pop up storms could occur as a cold front approaches the state. AT&T will bring super fast Internet connections to Atlanta, Sandy Springs, Decatur and Newnan, according to a report at AJC. AT&T didn’t offer a timeframe or pricing, but it appears to be ramping up its capabilities after Google announced earlier this year that it was going to bring faster Internet to the metro area.
The two suspects accused of robbing and murdering Army reservist Xavier Arnold in Kirkwood will stand trial in December, according to a report at Decaturish. Qutravius Palmer and Zion Wainwright will stand trial on Dec. 9, according to Margie Yondorf, Vice President of the Kirkwood Neighbors’ Organization. The trial will be held in DeKalb County Courthouse.
