Literary Events: Award-winning poets at Tech and Beyond Books series at Wren’s Nest

The School of Literature, Media and Communication of Ivan Allan College of Liberal Arts at Georgia Tech will host free poetry readings by the four finalists selected to hold the Margaret T. and Henry C. Bourne Chair in Poetry. All of the readings will be held at the Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking, 500 10th Street, at 7 p.m. The award-winning lineup of poets includes Ed Pavli? (Jan. 9), Aliki Barnstone (Jan. 16), Ilya Kaminsky (Jan. 23) and Cecilia Woloch (Jan. 30). The poet selected will assume the chair originated by the late Thomas Lux. On Jan. 10, The Wren’s Nest will debut its monthly literary series, Beyond Books. The series is scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month, beginning at 7 p.m. at this historic West End home of Joel Chandler Harris located at 1050 Ralph David Abernathy Blvd., SW The series is free and open to the public. The lineup of writers includes: Mark Pendergrast (Jan. 10), Jim Auchmutey (Febr. 14), Tina McElroy Ansa (March 14) and Jessica Handler (April 4).
