News Briefs: Warrant amnesty; BeltLine VP; PAWS anniversary event

The City of Atlanta Municipal Court has launched a warrant amnesty program for individuals facing arrest and other penalties due to delinquent traffic tickets, city ordinance or misdemeanor violations. The program, which continues through May 13, also waives contempt fees for failure-to-appear.  The program is available to individuals with citations issued before Jan. 1, 2015. Court sessions will be held weekdays at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on a first-come, first-serve basis. The court will offer signups for these sessions starting at 7 a.m. each day for same day service. The court will also hold special sessions during non-traditional hours: Wednesday evening, April 20 at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 16 at 10 a.m. Sign up for special session on Saturday, April 16 begins at 8 a.m. Individuals who wish to clear penalties and warrants under this program are encouraged to arrive early. Atlanta BeltLine Inc. has appointed Nina R. Hickson to serve as vice president and general counsel. In this capacity, she will be responsible for all legal matters including general corporate transactions, corporate governance, compliance and risk management and a wide variety of real estate-related matters including transactional work and negotiations. Prior to her appointment, Hickson served as the Ethics Officer for the City of Atlanta.

PAWS Atlanta will mark its 50th anniversary on April 16 from 3-7 p.m. at the Historic Fourth Ward Park.
