Man threatens to set himself on fire on MARTA pedestrian bridge
Atlanta police and fire officials used water cannons and beanbags to force a man off the Inman Park MARTA station pedestrian bridge into a waiting airbag. The man threatened to set himself on fire.
According to the AJC, the man had doused himself in gasoline after climbing out onto the support beam of the pedestrian bridge at DeKalb Avenue near the south bus loop. Negotiators talked to the man for more than hour before deciding to take action.
The man landed on the airbag uninjured and was taken to Grady Hospital for evaluation.
