News Briefs: Streetcar funding; body found; Black & Decker in Midtown
The Atlanta City Council’s Community Development Committee will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, June 23, to discuss the $3.65 billion proposal to extend the Atlanta BeltLine and Atlanta Streetcar. The meeting begins at 12:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the council chambers at 55 Trinity Ave. in Downtown.
Atlanta Police found the body of a man lying face down on a sidewalk on 8th Street near West Peachtree on Saturday morning. According to CBS46, police believe the man, who allegedly was in the city for a job interview, might have accidentally fallen down an embankment. The man’s name has not been released pending notification of relatives.
Black & Decker is expected to put an innovation center in Midtown, according to the Atlanta Business Chronicle. The company is said to have picked Atlantic Station for what could be a 6,000-square-foot research and development center.
