City of Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran has been suspended after comments about the gay, lesbian, bisexul and transgender (LGBT) community surfaced in a book. According to a report from our media affiliate CBS46, Mayor Kasim Reed has suspended Cochran for one month without pay. The chief will be required to take sensitivity training and will no longer be able to distribute the book on city property.
Cochran self-published the religious-themed book last year called “Who Told You That You Were Naked?” where he called homosexuality a “sexual perversion” and compare it to beastiality, among other thoughts.
Reed said he would not tolerate discrimination of any kind in his administration and described what he had read in Cochran’s book as “disturbing sentiments about the LGBT community.”
